Danfoss Finance Learning Program
The Challenge
Danfoss is a Danish engineering company founded in 1933. It specializes in innovative solutions for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and energy efficiency, and is known for advanced technologies that contribute to sustainable and energy-efficient solutions in various industries.
“At Danfoss, the finance organization has always played a key role in enabling operational excellence as well as ensuring compliance and cost control in our business. However, we saw an untapped potential for Finance to be more proactive in identifying value opportunities and driving business impact. To do this, we needed a more uniform approach to how we engage and partner with the business”, says Head of Danfoss Finance Functions, Thomas Auerbach.
Moreover, there was a desire to strengthen collaboration across functions in Finance.
The Solution
We wanted to create a uniform approach to business partnering and increase the business impact from Finance. Together with Business Partnering Institute, we designed and rolled out a change initiative and learning program focusing on a partnering mindset and capabilities.
In the design, we of course leverage existing best practice, but the content was tailored to the culture and needs of Danfoss. The programs have been co-delivered with Danfoss sponsors and we have also leveraged internal experts to train in for example Problem Solving.
Business Partnering Institute invested a lot in getting to know our people and our business, which makes it seamless to work with them.
The Impact
We now have a common understanding and language around business partnering across the entire organization. We set clear guidance on what we expect from our business partners, which makes it easy for them to follow and provide feedback on.
We have had around 80 people on the learning program, and the feedback from them so far on the program has been outstanding, and most importantly, we see that participants have started adapting to new ways of working and acting as role models in the organization.
Our collaboration across functions is clearly strengthen and I am happy to see that so many of the cases from the program has led to real and measurable impact.
